Not much is known about the Dwarf woodcutter who lives alone in the woods and that’s just the way Percy Bogg wants it to stay. Percy has no friends, no family (that he will admit to) and invites no guests. People annoy him and when they don’t, it means they probably want a favour, which annoys him even more. Worse still, they might want to borrow some money. They’d be out of luck. Apart from his faithful horse, Bogg only loves gold. It is this greed that leads him on a hazardous quest and in to something he could never have imagined.
It isn’t clear why Percy is the way he is. There are events in his past that he won’t mention but whatever happened, they have turned him in to a recluse with a deep mistrust of others. Why did he leave his brothers? Why is the Mysterious Stranger following him? Deep down, is Bogg really such a nasty character? His horse wouldn’t say so (if he could speak) and maybe he might just meet someone along the way who will be able to see beneath the hardened surface...
